More Beets

Here are some other places I’m writing or doing stuff. In case you just can’t get enough.

The Content Chop Shop

The Chop Shop is a custom content design shop that I own and operate. We handcraft lean, compelling content that people want to read to help small businesses get their voices heard. We specialize in web content, newsletters, email marketing, blogs, social media campaigns, and print marketing materials. If you have content writing needs, hop on over to the site and contact us about how we can help.

Tidewater Women

During my time as Director for Buy Fresh Buy Local Hampton Roads, I wrote a monthly column for Tidewater Women Magazine called “What’s in Season” which includes overviews of seasonal availability along with recipes, often pulled from local farmers and chefs.

I will do pretty much anything to promote local food, including but not limited to posing with a giant recycle bin.

I was often interviewed or cited in local press regarding the “Buy Local” movement.

Sales Explode as ‘Buy Local’ movement Grows Up” by Carolyn Shapiro published in The Virginian Pilot, July 2012.

Hearsay with Cathy Lewis, WHRV, local public radio. Interview during her “Delicious Dish” segment, May 2012.

Celebration will Connect Local Folks with Local Producers” by Irene Bowers published in The Beacon, September 2011

I was interviewed by local news channel, WCTV, along with local chef, Matt Hayes of The Cutting Edge Cafe.

I have appeared on The Hampton Roads Show twice as a spokesperson for Buy Fresh Buy Local Hampton Roads, promoting various events in which we’ve participated.
